Dear PhD Students,

We are pleased to introduce DOPE Hubs, a student-led initiative at the University of Genoa that bridges academic research, technological innovation, and practical application.

Our goal is to create a collaborative environment where PhD candidates, master’s, and bachelor’s students work together on real-world engineering and research projects with high innovation potential.

DOPE Hubs currently involves over 100 students from various disciplines engineering, computer science, physics, economics, and communication and operates with the academic support.

This collaboration benefits both sides:

- PhD candidates gain access to a large pool of highly motivated students and fellow researchers from different disciplines, who contribute to the quantitative and operational aspects of the work, while the PhD candidates focus on the qualitative, conceptual, and methodological development of their research.

- Students gain hands-on experience, strengthen their technical and soft skills, and develop a more concrete understanding of their field of study.

Activities carried out within DOPE Hubs may also be recognized as PhD training credits, depending on the approval of the doctoral board.

DOPE Hubs is structured into several thematic departments (“Hubs”), including:

- DOPE Digital, focused on embedded systems, simulation, and digital twin technologies;

- DOPE AI, working on artificial intelligence, data-driven modeling, and predictive control;

- DOPE Robotics, dedicated to automation, mechatronics, and intelligent systems;

- DOPE Aerospace, developing drones, autonomous flight systems, and rocket experiments;

- DOPE Healthcare, exploring biomedical sensors and digital models for human health.

We believe that PhD students in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering can find in DOPE Hubs an excellent opportunity to develop and test their research ideas in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, and innovation-oriented environment.
